    English Summary/英文概要: Last year the World Bank issued a report recommending that the Chinese government reduce the size and power of the state sector. It was signed off by Li Keqiang who became premier in March. He is among the young leaders who are said to be in favor of a loser grip on business. According to Shao Ning, deputy director of Sasac, the government agency that manages the biggest of the state owned companies, the state directed companies still plays the largest role in China.

    The People’s Daily published a front-page article on the “new look” of the state-owned enterprises. It is an indication that there are also conservative forces – in particular among some of the government officials –who oppose change. Note that 117 Chinese state-owned companies paid roughly US$ 300 BN in taxes, a tax-bill sharply increasing year after year, and that 54 of them rank among the Fortune 500 !

    Many of the Chinese state owned companies have enjoyed substantial growth on the home market, and they are now looking for new opportunities in the international market. This may happen through acquisition – most likely - of some Western traditional organizations.

    The author addresses a major problem faced by the leadership of many private and public organizations that are stymied by a traditional management-system, and that strain to outperform in a globalizing environment, which calls for unrelenting innovation, savvy strategy, and risk-management.

    My aforementioned book provides both the means to evaluate the organization’s innovation-capabilities, as well as a smooth and fairly swift way to transform a traditional organization in a nimble, networking company because it provides a comprehensive and cohesive bundle of models and methods that enable the leadership to innovate the way people think, the way people behave, and the way people act. It gets the people-power to enact the transformation under the guidance and the coaching of the leadership.

    Part One of the book presents facts and figures that help the business-leaders to evaluate their organization’s innovation-capabilities. Part Two proposes the building blocks of a management-system that enables the business-leaders to introduce and to run an innovative networking enterprise. Part Three presents a 5-step program of change-management.
